Where to start?

Where does anyone start these days? I googled it of course: what do we need to do to move to America?

I don't know what people did before the all-knowing omni-being of the Web was there to grant our wishes for information, but, as expected, I instantly found a website dedicated to my very specific situation: I am a US citizen, residing in the UK, married to an English wife; we have two children with duel-citizenship; our family wants to (some day) reside in the US.

Visajourney.com has some promising looking forums and a guide page that looks like what we need. The suggestion is that, because we both reside in the UK, I can file a petition for my wife in the UK, called a DCF or Direct Consular Filing. As directed, I consulted the website of the US Embassy in London and found:

The first step in applying for an immigrant visa is for the U.S. citizen or LPR to file a immigrant visa petition, Form I-130, with the office of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). U.S. citizens and LPRs resident in the United Kingdom should may file the petition, Form I-130, with the Department of Homeland Security (Immigration) in London; those resident in the United States should contact their local USCIS office for further information.

This is a good thing because it is usually faster than filing at a US Service Center, meaning we could get a visa in 30 to 90 days. The "I-130, Petition for Alien Relative" form is available for download on the US Embassy website so it appears our first, first step is to download that form.
